To Foul or Not to Foul

Hello Basketball Players

It was brought to my attention that there were intentional fouls committed in order to prevent the other team from scoring. This especially happened when the games were close to winding down and teams were up by 1 point. This tactic prevented the other team from scoring and tying it up or winning the game.

This is a big no no in Gracepoint IM's. Here at GFC Im's we try to play fair and with integrity.

To ensure this happens I have no other choice but to enforce a new rule.

Let me first define an intentional foul in my book. An INTENTIONAL FOUL is when the defender fouls the person WITHOUT EVEN TRYING to steal, block or go for the ball.

The Rule:
  • During anytime before one minute is left in the game, every intentional foul will be rewarded a free throw.
  • During the last minute of the game any intentional foul will be rewarded one point
Please adhere to these rules and captains please use good and fair judgment.

Thanks!!

Week 3

Week 2

Hello IM players!

I'm looking forward to week 2. If you haven't had a chance to see the results from last week they are posted and week 2 games schedules are up. Scroll down to see it.

This Friday when you arrive please go to your respective playing fields and start warming up and practicing. As you see your team-mates arrive gather together and warmup/stretch by teams.

I'm hoping to start play at 6:40 so please arrive early and on time.

Everyone please make sure to read the rules of the game and if you have a question or comment go ahead and do that on the blogspot.

If you haven't paid please pay your team captain at the end of the day.

Last note, if you signed up late last week on Friday could you please email me and let me know what team I assigned you on. When I assigned you I didn't write it down. Thanks!
My email: jammy.yang@gpmail.org

That's it's see you on Friday

--------------------------------------------

Hello Everyone!!!

Week 1 is done and I hope everyone had a good time. I'll be posting the scores real soon so come back to this site later.

For those of you that signed up on the day of sorry I wasn't able to formally introduce myself. Administrative stuff took a lot longer than I had expected. In any case stop by and say hi. I definitely would like to meet you all.

Don't forget no IM's this week. See you next Friday!!!!

Oh yeah, make sure you get a chance to read the rules for the respective sport you're playing and if you haven't paid yet please give it to your captain.

Week 1

On the Day Of:

When you arrive please come to the registration table to get a name tag. After you get your name tag find some friends and stretch/warmup

After that we will all gather together for large group introduction.

After that we will go to our respective sports fields to break out into our teams and start playing.

Due to registration and introductions our playing time will be a little shorter than the weeks to come.

Alright I think that' s about it. Oh yeah don't forget the $10 you will give to your Captains.

Welcome!!!!!

Hello Everyone!!!

It's almost game time!!! I'm looking forward to the fun time of playing sports together and the good times of getting to know each other as the weeks progress.

We're all slated to play the sport you chose as your first preference and everyone is on, it's my hope, fair teams.

Competition is expected, but please don't over do it. There's such thing as good competition and bad competition. Good competition is our goal and building camaraderie through it is another. You will be with your team for the entire duration of IM's. Please get to know each other. Learn each other's strengths and weaknesses and develop your team based on what you got.

The NBA says, "There can only be one," but we say, "There can only be fun."

Some things you should know
  • Bring your own filled water bottle. We will provide a few coolers of water but you can refill using the water fountain.
  • $10 IM Fee. Please give it to your captain when you find out who they are.
    • cash or checks made to GFC
  • Park either in the parking lots, on Grand St, Shoreline, or Otis.
    • Please park in the marked areas
  • Bring your own sunblock if you need it. Sun will be still out while we play
  • First Aid provided
  • Game time will start promptly at 6:30. Please arrive early around 6 if you can to stretch and warmup. Stretching and warming up is very important.
  • All games are self-reffed. Please be fair and understanding. Let things go if you there is a disagreement and do it with a smile! :)
